What An Executive Onboarding Program Should Include

Nowadays, more and more companies are using executive onboarding programs. So what exactly is an onboarding program you may ask? This is what a company does to get a new employee acquainted with their operations. This is very much like new-hire orientations but the activities involved are more multifaceted.

For starters, these onboarding services normally last for two weeks to 1 year. Hence, the time frame alone is enough to conclude that this is far more comprehensive compared to the conventional orientation. Activities like training courses are conducted to further familiarize the new executive with policies, mission and vision as well as benefit plans. At times, companies include special programs that are of interest to the employee.

There are a lot of ways to conduct onboarding programs but to ensure a good experience, the following should be included:
  • Complete documentation of the executive’s responsibilities – This is given to the new employee so that he knows what is expected of him.
  • Regular meetings – Schedule a meeting with the new executive every now and then.  This gives him a chance to express his opinions and share his issues.
  • Accomplished administrative forms – All relevant paperwork should be completed and filed on the very first day of work to avoid any confusion.
